We celebrated Christmas with Jeff, Lauren, Joe, Jenn (Joe's girlfriend), Tammy and her brother Mike. Jeff and Lauren are renting a very nice home where they live with Lauren's mom Tammy and Joe. We enjoyed some very good food on Christmas Day. Jeff cooked a turkey, Ted made a ham. Everyone contributed to all the side dishes and fixings. We will be staying in the area until after New Years Day then will drive further south in Florida. The first 5 pictures are their home and Jeff's man cave. The rest of the pictures are of everyone enjoying the holiday.
Travel log of our trip around USA. We became full time RVers on June 20, 2010 after sale of a home in mid-Michigan. We also sold most of our belongings by holding an auction. Our goal is to visit as much of the USA as possible and keep a record of our trip. We have converted most of our personal records to paperless. Currently former neighbors are forwarding mail.

Christmas in Florida with our son Jeff
We celebrated Christmas with Jeff, Lauren, Joe, Jenn (Joe's girlfriend), Tammy and her brother Mike. Jeff and Lauren are renting a very nice home where they live with Lauren's mom Tammy and Joe. We enjoyed some very good food on Christmas Day. Jeff cooked a turkey, Ted made a ham. Everyone contributed to all the side dishes and fixings. We will be staying in the area until after New Years Day then will drive further south in Florida. The first 5 pictures are their home and Jeff's man cave. Driving to Florida - Casino stops
We left Marble Falls TX on 12/20/10 and headed for I-10 toward florida. We stopped the first night in Lake Charles, LA at the L-auberge du lac casino (first picture above). Very nice casino, even though we had a little issue with our reservation in the RV spaces. When we arrived, we were told the RV park was closed. We had made a reservation less than 48 hours before and there were 4 RVs already parked there. They finally agreed to allow us to us an RV space since we were only staying one night and had made a reservation. The casino is really nice, recently remodeled, great buffet (you know how Ted loves a good buffet.) The next day when we were leaving we spoke to a representative in the parking area and discovered the casino was having a "disagreement" with the leasing agency. They hope to have the problem resolved soon, so we look forward to staying there again. The next day we drove to Biloxi, MS where we had reservations at a Cajun RV resort for two days. We could see the beach from our RV. The second picture is a portion of the beautiful white beach and the Bleu Rivage casino, also down the street is the Hard Rock Casino (third picture.) We gambled and had dinner/lunch at both casinos and also visited 3 other casinos in the area during our stay. There were 11 casinos within 10 miles of the RV resort where we stayed. I'm sure we will check out the others next time. The last picture is just one of the carvings along the mediuim of the beach road. Trunks of trees are carved into these beautiful creations.

GETTING READY FOR CHRISTMAS
It's beginning to feel a little more like Christmas. Not because of the weather, thank you no snow here. The first picture is of the Sunset Point office lighted for Christmas. We bought a 3 foot tree and 18 ornaments along with 2 poinsetta plants for the RV dash. There is also a lighted wreath on the side of the RV. The third picture is of the deer enjoying the holiday lights in the RV park. Last picture is a beautiful sunset here in the park just a few days ago. We've addressed and mailed Christmas cards, and most of my shopping for our sons and grandsons has been done online. It's really nice when the site adds a gift card and wrapping paper along with the shipping. We won't get to see Mike and his boys and Jeff's two sons open their presents. We have however, made plans to drive to Florida and spend a week with Jeff, Lauren and Joe for Christmas this year. Haven't celebrated a holiday with Jeff for two years since he moved to Florida. Looking for to the trip. We also plan to stop at a couple of casinos on the way across Interstate 10.
ANOTHER DAY AT THE BIG HOUSE
On 12/4/10, we were again visting at Ginger and Bobs. Ted, Levi, Dru and Jennifer had made plans to go to the gun range. They had lots of fun, and shot up lots of ammo. Before they left, Levi's son Jack learned to ride a 2-wheel bike without training wheels. Big day for Jack and Levi. Dru enjoyed jumping a ramp while his parents were gone. Nelda's son Wyman stopped by to pick of Nelda and dad's vehicle to move her to another Rehab facility. She had progressed to a point she couldn't stay at the Rehab hospital any longer. Dad, Ginger, Dru, Jack and I visited Nelda after she arrived at Sage Brook, which is near Ginger's home. As of the day of this posting (12/9/10) she is improving every day. I just talked to her this evening, and she is doing lots of rehab daily plus extra walking with her walker. She and Dad aren't sure whether they will be able to attend her grandaughter's wedding out of state that is scheduled for New Year's Eve.
THANKSGIVING AT "THE BIG HOUSE"
We spent Thanksgiving with my sister Ginger and Bob at their home (fondly known as the "big house".) I didn't get pictures of everyone there, but there was more than enough to eat and we all had a good time. My dad's wife Nelda unfortunately could not spend the day with us. She fell 11/14/10 and broke her left hip. She is still in rehab, but her recovery is going well. My brother and part of his family were also able to join us for the day. It's been a long time since we all spent a holiday together.
GEORGIE BOY REPAIR - LOOKS LIKE NEW
We are very happy with the repair work by McQueeney Collision. They began work the day we dropped off the keys. Motorhome was completed by the date promissed and looks like new. They were able to repair the basement door in house, and match all the paint colors on the RV. The employees at this shop are all very knowledgeable, friendly and answered all our questions each time we visited to check on the progress. We spent the 11 days during repairs at the Hampton Inn & Suites in New Braufels. Nice accomodations, especially the hot cookie treats every evening. We would highly recommend McQueeney Collision to any one in the area needing repairs.

We so happy to see work in progress on the RV.

FAMILY IN LOUISIANA
We're so happy we came to Louisiana, because we got to meet our newest great-niece, Alyssa, not quite 3 months old, and such a good baby. Isn't she beautiful? Blake and Stephanie are very proud parents. We enjoyed a visit with them at the RV park on Saturday afternoon in addition to having dinner together at Salt Grass Steak House on the Louisana Boardwalk, Bossier City. Holding Alyssa was so much more fun than playing the slots on Saturday!

LATE SEPT EARLY OCT 2010
We spent about two weeks late September early October in Marble Falls TX area. Enjoyed several visits with Dad and Nelda. Also Edith visited them over a long weekend and we all got together for dinner. We finally received the medications Ted had ordered from the VA on 10/4, so we decided to head east toward Louisiana to find some casinos while we were waiting for the RV dealership to make the repairs on the RV. We spent the night in Whispering Pines RV park in Tyler, Texas. Made me a little nervous when the park was full of pine trees. The park was okay, but not sure we will stop there on the way back. We have found several casinos in NW Louisiana on the Red River. Having fun, not winning much, but enjoyed the free buffets at Horseshoe Casino and Hotel last night and this morning. Will stay here two more days then head back to Texas.

OOPS, WE WERE HAVING A REALLY BAD DAY
We had a great time in Woodland Park area seeing Pikes Peak and visiting Cripple Creek; however, the RV park where we stayed was an older park, with lots of mature trees, and RV spaces set up in a random order. So the morning of 9/11/2010, after having breakfast and stowing everything, we were ready to leave the park. First the automatic levelers were contrary and took awhile resetting so we could start our drive. Then Ted noticed air was escaping, not building up pressure so we couldn't drive without brakes. Luckily Ted is very good with mechanical issues, and figured out how to get the air pressure to hold. Then the real issues began. While driving out of the assigned RV space, Dorothy was watching on the driver side and apparently the lower edge of back cap on passenger side of the RV caught on landscape timbers that were piled quite high between the RV spaces. We heard a pop and thought it was the antenae brushing the limbs in the upper trees. We didn't realize the damage right away on the rear cap. It was a really tight turn between the irregular RV spaces. Dorothy was now watching at the front on the passenger side and a pine tree was in Ted's blind spot on the driver's side. Another camper saw we needed help and came over to guide Ted through the tight area of the park. We then discovered the awning of slide on driver's side had a deep scratch in the paint, and there was a definite crunch in one of the basement doors in the same area, on the lower portion of the RV. Those damages were from the pine tree. For those of you who know us well, Ted handled the "accident" quite well. When Ted came to the back of the RV to hook up the jeep, we discovered the damage on the rear passenger cap. We're not sure if any damage has been done to the ladder on the back of the RV, or inside the basement door. The slide works fine. We hooked up the jeep and finally started down the mountain toward New Mexico. Woodland Park, Colorado is close to 9000 feet elevation so we couldn't have made the drive if the air pressure hadn't held, because we would have had no brakes. We put the accident behind us and figured we'll see what the insurance company and RV repair site says. At lunch that day, when Dorothy reached into an upper cupboard for chips, a box of cookies crashed down onto the table. Unfortunately Ted had a full glass of milk poured, so we had milk all over the table, chair, and carpet. We looked at each other and laughed. We didn't think our day could get much worse and thankfully, it didn't. We have since called our insurance agent and they will be sending a representative to the RV park to meet us in Marble Falls, for an estimate of the damage. On a positive note, no one was hurt, the damage can be repaired, and we're really glad we didn't make the upgrade to a newer RV in Albuquerque. We came very close to making the trade up, but decided it wasn't the right time. We spent 1 night in Las Vegas, NM and 2 days, 3 nights in Rio Rancho NM and had some fun at the local casinos. We are spending tonight in a KOA near Carlsbad, NM, then will be on our way back to Texas.

PIKES PEAK
Our first full day in Woodland Park ,Colorado, we decided to take the drive to Pikes Peak which was only about 20 minutes from the RV park where we stayed. It was a beautiful drive; however, due to 50 mile per hour winds, we were only allowed to drive 13 of the 19 mile trip up the mountain. We reached 11,440 feet and reached the Glen Cove area where there is a gift shop and snack area. Pictures 5 and 6 show the jeep and view at the highest elevation we were allowed to drive. We saw three lakes during our drive through the interior of the mountain and small patches of snow near the peak. The trip down was a 6-7% grade with no guard rails most of the way down. Lots of signs reminding drivers to use low gear. We didn't see any wildlife, or big foot inspite of the signs indicating where sightings have been recorded. The large rocks and mountain views were beautiful.
