Travel log of our trip around USA. We became full time RVers on June 20, 2010 after sale of a home in mid-Michigan. We also sold most of our belongings by holding an auction. Our goal is to visit as much of the USA as possible and keep a record of our trip. We have converted most of our personal records to paperless. Currently former neighbors are forwarding mail.

Aug 2011 Lakefest Drag Boat Races
In August 2011 we again volunteered at the Lakefest Drag Boat Races, Marble Falls, Texas. It was really hot outside, but on Friday 8/12 we worked in the "Will Call" trailer. It was air conditioned and we had fun working the 1:00 - 4:00 shift. It was our job to register other volunteers and see they got their volunteer shirt and wrist band. Also customers who pre-purchased tickets picked up their wrist bands at the will call trailer. It was fun to meet new people and learn a different job this year. We also worked at the merchandise tent on Sunday morning 8:00 - 11:00. Customers purchased tokens and then we just had to hand them t-shirts, hats, cozies, posters whatever they had purchased. The merchandise tent was at the river, so we could hear and watch the races while we were working. One of the other locals we worked the merchandise tent with us had helped design this year's poster. We came home with a couple of posters, but shipped them off with souvenir T-shirts before I got a picture for my blog. Glad we worked the morning shift, because it was really hot, even though they had large fans going to cool us off. Will we do this again next year?? Probably if we are in Texas when it is scheduled.
