Christmas in Florida with our son Jeff

We celebrated Christmas with Jeff, Lauren, Joe, Jenn (Joe's girlfriend), Tammy and her brother Mike. Jeff and Lauren are renting a very nice home where they live with Lauren's mom Tammy and Joe. We enjoyed some very good food on Christmas Day. Jeff cooked a turkey, Ted made a ham. Everyone contributed to all the side dishes and fixings. We will be staying in the area until after New Years Day then will drive further south in Florida. The first 5 pictures are their home and Jeff's man cave. The rest of the pictures are of everyone enjoying the holiday.Posted by Picasa

Driving to Florida - Casino stops

We left Marble Falls TX on 12/20/10 and headed for I-10 toward florida. We stopped the first night in Lake Charles, LA at the L-auberge du lac casino (first picture above). Very nice casino, even though we had a little issue with our reservation in the RV spaces. When we arrived, we were told the RV park was closed. We had made a reservation less than 48 hours before and there were 4 RVs already parked there. They finally agreed to allow us to us an RV space since we were only staying one night and had made a reservation. The casino is really nice, recently remodeled, great buffet (you know how Ted loves a good buffet.) The next day when we were leaving we spoke to a representative in the parking area and discovered the casino was having a "disagreement" with the leasing agency. They hope to have the problem resolved soon, so we look forward to staying there again. The next day we drove to Biloxi, MS where we had reservations at a Cajun RV resort for two days. We could see the beach from our RV. The second picture is a portion of the beautiful white beach and the Bleu Rivage casino, also down the street is the Hard Rock Casino (third picture.) We gambled and had dinner/lunch at both casinos and also visited 3 other casinos in the area during our stay. There were 11 casinos within 10 miles of the RV resort where we stayed. I'm sure we will check out the others next time. The last picture is just one of the carvings along the mediuim of the beach road. Trunks of trees are carved into these beautiful creations.

GETTING READY FOR CHRISTMAS

It's beginning to feel a little more like Christmas. Not because of the weather, thank you no snow here. The first picture is of the Sunset Point office lighted for Christmas. We bought a 3 foot tree and 18 ornaments along with 2 poinsetta plants for the RV dash. There is also a lighted wreath on the side of the RV. The third picture is of the deer enjoying the holiday lights in the RV park. Last picture is a beautiful sunset here in the park just a few days ago. We've addressed and mailed Christmas cards, and most of my shopping for our sons and grandsons has been done online. It's really nice when the site adds a gift card and wrapping paper along with the shipping. We won't get to see Mike and his boys and Jeff's two sons open their presents. We have however, made plans to drive to Florida and spend a week with Jeff, Lauren and Joe for Christmas this year. Haven't celebrated a holiday with Jeff for two years since he moved to Florida. Looking for to the trip. We also plan to stop at a couple of casinos on the way across Interstate 10.

ANOTHER DAY AT THE BIG HOUSE

On 12/4/10, we were again visting at Ginger and Bobs. Ted, Levi, Dru and Jennifer had made plans to go to the gun range. They had lots of fun, and shot up lots of ammo. Before they left, Levi's son Jack learned to ride a 2-wheel bike without training wheels. Big day for Jack and Levi. Dru enjoyed jumping a ramp while his parents were gone. Nelda's son Wyman stopped by to pick of Nelda and dad's vehicle to move her to another Rehab facility. She had progressed to a point she couldn't stay at the Rehab hospital any longer. Dad, Ginger, Dru, Jack and I visited Nelda after she arrived at Sage Brook, which is near Ginger's home. As of the day of this posting (12/9/10) she is improving every day. I just talked to her this evening, and she is doing lots of rehab daily plus extra walking with her walker. She and Dad aren't sure whether they will be able to attend her grandaughter's wedding out of state that is scheduled for New Year's Eve.

THANKSGIVING AT "THE BIG HOUSE"

We spent Thanksgiving with my sister Ginger and Bob at their home (fondly known as the "big house".) I didn't get pictures of everyone there, but there was more than enough to eat and we all had a good time. My dad's wife Nelda unfortunately could not spend the day with us. She fell 11/14/10 and broke her left hip. She is still in rehab, but her recovery is going well. My brother and part of his family were also able to join us for the day. It's been a long time since we all spent a holiday together.

GEORGIE BOY REPAIR - LOOKS LIKE NEW

We are very happy with the repair work by McQueeney Collision. They began work the day we dropped off the keys. Motorhome was completed by the date promissed and looks like new. They were able to repair the basement door in house, and match all the paint colors on the RV. The employees at this shop are all very knowledgeable, friendly and answered all our questions each time we visited to check on the progress. We spent the 11 days during repairs at the Hampton Inn & Suites in New Braufels. Nice accomodations, especially the hot cookie treats every evening. We would highly recommend McQueeney Collision to any one in the area needing repairs.
