Logan's 11th birthday celebrated 7/6/2012

Logan's 11th birthday was on 7/2/2012, but we celebrated it with him, Gavin, Mike (his dad) and Jennifer on Friday, 7/6/2012.  Mike brought the cake and ice cream, and Gavin was trying to help him blow out the candles.  Logan plays the guitar and drums, and has always loved music.  I was making him a guitar afghan for his birthday, but didn't get it finished until a week after we celebrated.  I left the afghan with his dad before we left Michigan.

Time with Kyle, Logan and Gavin July 2012

Had lunch with Kyle, Logan, Gavin and Fred and Sue Scholts (also known as Bebaw and Memaw) at Big Boys Restaurant in Cadillac MI.  The boys really like our new jeep.  Kyle will have his driver's license by the time we see him next year!!  Seems like just yesterday I was worrying about him doing tricks standing on his bicycle seat.  Gavin and Logan went with us to Houghton Lake and we were able to spend lots more time at the pool and playground with them.  They also finally got to ride the little train around the park after swimming in the pool.   The two of them are like fish, they love the water, but everytime they jumped in doing flips, I just knew they were going to hit their heads on the side of the pool.  Apparently they knew what they were doing, since neither of them got hurt.

Time with Josh and Justin in Michigan

We were able to spend time with Josh (14) and Justin (15) while in Michigan, since they were spending several months this summer with their mom.  They enjoyed the pool and basketball court at the RV park.  We also played mini-golf and took them to G's for pizza and salad one night.  They spent two days and nights with us before we had to take them home.  They think the new motor home and jeep are pretty cool rides.  We had just seen them at Christmas, but it waas amazing to see they are getting so tall.  Josh is six foot and Justin is just a few inches shorter.  We always told Justin his "little" brother would be bigger than him some day!Justin is on the left and Josh on the right in picture below.

Enjoyed 4 days at Houghton Lake Travel Park, Houghton Lake, MI with Logan and Gavin.  We spent lots of time at the pool, they are like fish around water.  And also lots of time at the playground, these two will climb and/or hang on anything.  We also played lots of card games and tried to wear out our "Sorry" game.   We had dinner one night with Mike and Jennifer while the boys were visiting. Too soon, it was time to return them to their mom.

Special afghan made for Nelda Johnson's birthday

I made the above afghan for my step-mom, Nelda Johnson for her birthday.  I started it in May before we left Texas, but didn't finish it until shortly after her birthday in June.  Nelda loves flowers and working in her flower beds.  I thought she would really appreciate the theme.  The 32 flowers were all crocheted separately and sewn on individually.  It was a true labor of love, because I rarely make an afghan that is pieced together in any way.  The words around the outside edge are "You are closer to God's heart in a garden than any place else on earth."  The words around the inside say "Kind hearts are the garden, kind minds are the root, kind words are the blossom, kind deeds are the fruit."  You can read the words on each side of the afghan by clicking on a picture.  Dad said she really liked it when it was delivered by mail.  We haven't seen Dad and Nelda yet because we are still traveling.

Our new ride - Monaco Diplomat purchased 6/6/2012

We arrived in Sioux Falls, SD on Wednesday 5/30 after two days of driving from Oklahoma.  Spent Thursday picking up our mail at Alternative Resources (mail forwarding agency we use) and also getting plates renewed at Minnehaha County Treasurer office.  Ted decided we should check out some "newer" motorhomes while we were in South Dakota, so we stopped at several dealerships that had motorhomes on display.  When we found this Monaco Diplomat with low miles and lots of extras we were looking for, we fell in love.  Our weekend stay in SD turned into two weeks while we negotiated a trade and completed all the necesary paperwork.  The hardest part was moving all our worldly possessions from one motorhome to the other.  On June 11, 2012, we finally left Sioux Falls for Michigan.  We couldn't wait for our friends and family to see our new home.
