Kennedy Space Center, Titusville FL

After leaving the Florida Keys, we spent a few days in Hollywood, Florida at the Seminole RV park. Of course there were several casinos in the area, one just across the street. Had fun gambling (donating) before we headed north on the Florida turnpike toward Titusville. We found a beautiful RV park only 12 miles from the Kennedy Space Center. The Great Outdoors RV park is considered a premium RV park. Prices were very reasonable for the large RV spaces. Gated community with restaurants, salon & spa, health center, RV sales & repair, golf cart sales & repair, pools, golf courses, small lakes, nature center and much more on site. Would highly recommend this park to friends. We were both under the weath the day after arrival, so we extended our stay one more day so we could visit the Kennedy Space Center. Lots of interesting exhibits and hands on interaction for big and old kids, too. We also stopped in the Astronaut Hall of Fame just down the road from the space center. I especially enjoyed the display of the Apollo II capsule and service arm that Neil Armstrong and his crew walked on 7/16/69 on the way to the Moon, Sea of Tanquility. Also climbed into a very small capsule, not sure how the astronauts managed to spend much time in one of those capsules.

Florida Keys

After leaving Panhandle of Florida, we spent 1 night Perry KOA, an OK place to stay for 1 night. We then drove to Sun N Fun resort in Sarasota for 2 nights. Did not get to see any of the friends in the area, timing not right. Then we drove toward Florida Keys. Weather just got better the further south we drove. First 2 pics taken as we entered the Florida Keys, in 1 picture the draw bridge was up, but we only had to wait a few minutes for traffice to move south. Third pic was taken on the drive way into the Calusa RV park in Key Largo. A little scary seeing all those trees after our experience with a pine tree in Woodland Park, CO, but there weren't any large trees in the camp site where we stayed. The Calusa park was again an OK place to stay for the night, but not a place we wanted so stay for several days. The interior roads were paved, but rather narrow, so not easy to back the RV into our space for the night. The next day we drove to Marathon where we were staying for three nights at the Grassey Key RV park. A small RV park, but really nice. It is located right on the Overseas Hwy and on the bay, with docks for any one with a boat, and a few RV sites right on the water. We didn't get to park on the water, mahybe next time, but still enjoyed the stay. Our first night in Marathon, we had dinner at the Island Restaurant. John Peck who held our auction in June had recommended we stop in the restaurant owned by his sister Cindy. John's parents were visiting from Gladwin, MI, so we also met them and John's sister. Had a really good meal and great service at the Island Restaurant. Our grandson Joe and his girlfriend Jen had purchased a gift certificate for lunch at the Blue Heaven restaurant in Key West. We spent a day in Key West, checking out the Sloppy Joe and Hogs Breath bars, where we bought souvenir T-shirts, and had lunch at Blue Heaven. There were chickens were running around on the ground and roosters crowing in the trees and on the roof during lunch. Good food, but we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated.
